Topic:  Sustaining Continence Priorities


Submission Criteria

We would like to invite all clinician delegates to share completed continence projects with the ACP Conference audience.

Have you conducted a:

  • Service development, for example, an innovation or change in service provision to improve delivery or patient outcomes.
  • Quality improvement project, for example, a project to trial new processes and evaluation of their impact.
  • Audit, for example, a project to understand unmet needs or provide data for future projects.
  • Research, for example, small or large scale projects to advance the evidence base for continence care, which could include literature reviews as part of an educational award.
  • Reflection on practice, for example, perspectives on issues of relevance to continence care or emerging issues.

Your Bladder and Bowel care colleagues can learn from these experiences to share learning across this clinical specialty. 

Awards and Prizes

All submissions will be considered for the ACP Award in Memory of Dorothy Mandelstam and the Best of the Rest Award to reward sharing knowledge and practice. Both submissions for Oral and Poster presentation will be eligible for both awards and all winners will be given the opportunity to submit their abstract to the British Journal of Nursing or the Nursing Times for consideration as a full article.

  • The ACP Award in Memory of Dorothy Mandelstam will be presented to acknowledge Excellent in 'Improving practice and/or Sharing your Knowledge'.
  • The Best of the Rest award will be presented to highlight work submitted that makes a significant contribution to ‘Improving practice and/or Sharing knowledge’.

Following conference, Fitwise Management Ltd will contact the winners.

Each winner’s abstract will be submitted to the publication of their choice, along with their email address.

The Editor will then liaise directly with each winner to discuss potential commissioning of their abstract as full article.

Submission Guidelines

If you would like to deliver an oral or poster presentation at conference, please complete the online submission form. The submission should be prepared according to the following guidelines:

  • Maximum one page A4, font Arial, size 12.
  • The submission should adhere to the subheading structure:
    • Introduction and demonstration of the importance of this topic.
    • Background including any relevant evidence/guidelines/etc.
    • Relevance to patient care.
    • Project details and outcomes.
    • Conclusion and any areas for further development.
  • Up to 2 tables or figures can be included in addition to the one page submission.
  • The project must be on a chosen aspect of continence that demonstrates improving practice and/or sharing knowledge.
  • Submissions should be a service development, quality improvement project, audit, research (empirical research or literature review) or reflection on practice.

Submission Terms

Before submission, please read the following terms. Full submission information can be found by clicking the 'Submit Here' button below.

  • Once submitted, content cannot be amended.
  • The submission may have been presented at another conference providing this has been checked with the previous conference secretariat.
  • If accepted, the presenting author must register to attend the conference and will be liable for the applicable full delegate fee.
  • Last date for submission is midnight on Sunday 30th March 2025.
  • Ideally, the submitter should be the presenting author.  If this is not possible, the replacement presenter must be a named author on the original submission.
  • As the number of oral and poster presentation slots are limited, the judging panel may suggest an abstract is accepted in the alternative presentation format.
  • If chosen to present a poster or oral paper at conference, the author will be required to make his/her presentation available for publishing on the ACP website, observing copyright rules. 
  • The presenting author (as indicated on the submission) will be notified of the decision of the judging panel around W/C Monday 14th April 2025.
  • The decision of the panel is final.
  • Poster presenters may be asked to provide a PDF of their posters in advance of conference.

Please remember: If accepted for either a poster or oral presentation, the presenting author must register for full conference attendance and will be liable for the applicable full delegate fee.
