Call for Papers

Call for Abstract Submissions

We are pleased to announce the opening of abstract submission for the eleventh Single Photon Workshop (SPW2024) to be held in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, Scotland 18-22 November 2024.

The Single Photon Workshop is the major biennial meeting of the international research community and has shaped developments in this field for more than two decades. The SPW2024 programme encompasses fundamental science and metrology of single-photon sources and detectors, state-of-the-art advances in deployable single-photon devices, and high impact applications in science and industry. Our scientific programme will feature plenaries and invited talks from top international experts and runs in parallel with a major photonics industry exhibition.

Call for Papers are now open!

Due to popular demand, the deadline for abstract submissions has now been extended to 14:00 (GMT) on Tuesday 30 July 2024.

  • Applications in science & industry, including Quantum communications including key distribution, particularly satellite-to-ground quantum links, deep space optical communications, quantum photonics, photon counting for fundamental science, single-photon LIDAR, single-photon spectroscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging, and other life sciences applications.

Submission process

The call for papers submission process for Single Photon Workshop 2024 will be through an online submission portal, which will be available Monday 6th May. Presenting authors are requested to create an account and submit an abstract for review according to the submission guidelines and template. Please keep the email and password used to create the account for future. Should you require any assistance or have a query about online submission, contact events@fitwise.co.uk

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE SUBMISSION PROCESS

  • Alternative contact for abstract
  • Publication of abstract agreement

Submission Guidelines

Failure to adhere to the detailed format for call for papers preparation will result in the rejection of the abstract.

It is ESSENTIAL that you read through the guidelines below before you submit. Abstracts which do not adhere to the guidelines will not be reviewed. Abstracts must be templated using the SPW2024 template. The abstract should be submitted as a one-page pdf and diagrams and references can be included.

Abstract font - Times New Roman

  • Title - font size: 14pt
  • Authors - font size: 9pt
  • Affiliation - font size: 8pt, italicized
  • Main body - font size: 10pt
  • References - font size: 10pt

Download the template below to create the abstract and then save as a PDF file to upload to the system. Only PDF files will be accepted for upload. Diagrams and tables may be included in the one-page abstract, as well as references. Abstracts will not be edited and will added to the conference website. Ensure that all grammar and spelling is correct.

How to submit your abstract

The Presenting Author will be the contact person for the abstract and must submit the abstract. Once you enter the online submission portal, start by creating an Account. Please keep a record of the account details you use to set up the account as you will require them to log into the SPW 2024 abstract submission system. Upon successful submission of the abstract a confirmation email will be sent to the Presenting Author.

If you have not received a confirmation email, please check that your abstract is not left in draft and is fully submitted by logging back into the portal and checking on the View/Edit Abstracts page.
