Presentation Title: Exploring Simulation as Social Practice

Presentation Summary: Simulations is a social practice- human being interact with each other, various devices, and concepts in a goal-oriented manner. There have been tremendous advancements in simulation practice, and studies show that it can have a positive impact on patients’ lives. However, the use of simulation remains limited and is spreading only slowly from acute care situations in hospitals to more interaction-based care outside of hospitals, such as municipalities. What is focused on, how it is approaches, and what is overlooked are the results of decisions made by stakeholders in the field. This lecture takes a step back from practice to explore how different stakeholders determine what is simulated, and how these simulations are interpreted in debriefings.
